An early 1960's Seiko Christmas brochure
One of the key aims of this site is to be a source of information for those who collect vintage Grand Seiko. We don’t just list the watches that we have for sale in the anticipation that customers will add them to their collections – we also list watches that we have never had in stock, along with as much data about those watches as we can glean. The intent is to be a reliable source of information about exactly which references were created by Grand Seiko, and to provide data on those references.
We are confident that currently this site contains the most complete, accurate and detailed information on the historical Grand Seiko references that you will find anywhere.
We have acquired and scanned another Seiko brochure from the early 1960's that features the Grand Seiko First - the article on the previous example can be found here.
As with the previous example, we are not exactly sure which year this dates from - we suspect it is probably either 1962 or 1963.
Update December 2019
Thank you to Chris for providing the information that enables us to confirm that this brochure is in fact from 1963 (see comments below article)
Clearly from the graphical design and text (the text at the bottom of the cover page shown above translates to "Choose Seiko, Give Seiko", this is a promotional brochure issued for the Christmas season.
Like the previous brochure, it is printed on a single piece of paper that is then folded - in this instance, just once. Oddly, the cover page is not rectangular - it has a diagonal cut to it meaning that when closed, you see part of page three of the brochure from the front.
We hope in time to establish the correct year for both this and the previously scanned brochure. If anyone is able to identify the correct year from the watches featured, we would very much like to hear from you.
Below we present two double-page scans showing the full content of the brochure.
