Starting out on Substack
A quick marker post - everything below this has been imported from the website, and so there will be some odd formatting issues and extraneous code that somehow didn’t survive the import translation, but at least it means you don’t land on an empty stack!
I’m not entirely sure how this is going to pan out, but the idea is to replicate posts from the website here, which anyone can subscribe to for free, but also to add posts that will be visible only to subscribers.
Back before I started TGSG, I had a blog hosted at watchdxb.com that had weekly updates of auction listings for vintage Grand Seikos that I thought would be of interest to the wider collecting community. This proved to be very popular.
Obviously highlighting watches on sale that we ourselves might be interested in acquiring is perhaps not the greatest business idea in the world, but given the new approach we are taking towards listing our own watches that are available for purchase, there isn’t quite the conflict that you might imagine.
One specific aspect that possibly has been missed since I stopped the blog on watchdxb is that in addition to highlighting watches that perhaps you should be considering purchasing, I also highlighted watches that you really should steer well clear of.
You could save many, many, multiples of an annual subscription cost if a subscriber-only post prevents you from making the wrong purchasing decision.
Thank you for joining me here on Substack, and please do subscribe!
