It’s going to breakout to possibly 9 - 10k imo. Too much trouble for me atm.

Thanks Gerald. Regarding the numbers of SBGD001, 8pcs seems right. Mine has number 4, produced in August 2016 and delivered in September the same year.

Hi Stefan - yeah the 8 comes directly from Grand Seiko themselves who informed Phillips of the total number manufactured when Phillips had one up for auction in their Geneva auction in May 2021. That one sold for CHF 88,200, and was 660003.

Agreed 👍. It's nice to poke our heads in once in a while and see what new advancements are being made horologically.

Great, mine is 680004, so none produced in July.

Until one turns up. Hehehe :)

One interesting note regarding the desirability of the 001 vs the 201 is that Phillips have sold one of each in Geneva, albeit 2 years apart, and as we know a lot can change in 2 years.

The 001 as mentioned sold in May 2021 for CHF 88,200 (which at the time converted to USD 98,000).

The 201 sold in May 2023 for CHF 38,100 (which at the time converted to USD 42,000).

Maybe an updated version too could be fun too, given the pure quantity of releases since.

That’s the one! Thank you. A Google search is now oblivious to it unfortunately. Worth a pin to the monthly newsletter ? Maybe a section for general top articles that don’t fit anywhere else .

I remember a top 10 list, I think by Gerald but perhaps by the Seiko guy or Plus9Time listing their top 10 Grand Seikos and the first and cheapest platinum modern GS was on it. Anyone have that link handy? I can’t seem to find it anymore.

It's here on Substack - I copied over a lot of the articles from the website at the beginning. Needs a bit of a tidy-up though, but the content is all there.
